The mail arrived on Friday afternoon…there were a few envelopes and a box. I sat it on the kitchen counter and got side tracked…I saw it again right before I was walking out of the door to have dinner with my parents and decided to get to it when I got home. During this time of year I’m always ordering gifts, prints, business related equipment and I just figured the box was something I had ordered and forgotten about….little did I know what was in the little box.
I opened it up to find a sweet hand-written note along with a sparkly red box…I opened the small box to find a beautiful hand-made ornament that had so much meaning as well as memories tied into it. First if you know me…I love ornaments- I always grab one wherever I travel because it has meaning and memories yet it’s not a knick-knack I have to keep out all year long and dust around!!!! So my Christmas tree is full of ornaments from my family, my travels, my students and my friends.
One of my “mentees” from this past session of the.MENTOR.sessions sent me this ornament…here are a few of the meanings behind each of the hand drawings…I had six “mentees” hence six birds….each bird represents the “mentee” along with a color from their business brand and their initials under neath in the heart…of course the date along with my business name and the.MENTOR.sessions. I will cherish this ornament for years to come…and will remember these sweet friends and fellow photographers.
As I read the hand-written letter my heart was over-whelmed by her kind words, encouragement and friendship…I was simply reminded of why I love what I do…I love people…I love friendships and I’m so blessed!!!
