3 of the BEST Summer Colors and How to Pair other Colors for a Variety

Summer is certainly not the season to be bashful when it comes to colors.  Some of my favorite colors for the summer are navy, yellow, green, cobalt blue and pink.  So what works when it comes to combining colors?  I used to stick with say yellow pants and then go with a basic white or black top with it but then I discovered I was missing all the fun that combining colors can bring to an outfit. Here are some of my favorite combinations:

1

Navy:
Navy is such beautiful, rich color that is certainly a less harsh alternative to black.  It is a strong color nonetheless.  It’s classic and can certainly be considered a neutral. Here are some of my favorite pairings  – pink, yellow, kelly green, orange, fushia, a bright blue.

Yellow:
Yellow, it just doesn’t get much happier than this color!  Some of you might shy away from this color thinking its too bold or bright but consider the other shades that are in the yellow family like the mustard color or more of a soft pale yellow.  The color can also be muted a touch depending what color you pair with it.  Here are some of my favorites – cobalt blue, sky blue, red, navy, hot pink, coral

3

Pink:

If you are a girl, chances are this was probably your favorite color growing up! (Pink room anyone?!) The beauty of this color is there are so many shades of pink that there is a color for anyone regardless of hair color and skin tone.  From the faint blush color so popular this year, to the hot pinks… it’s a gorgeous color for all.   I like pink with – gray, colbalt blue, red, black, orange.

  • Laura Stilley Tallo - I love your blog! The royal blue with gold accessories are my favorite colors. I would love some ideas about shooting right after the rain when the sky is beautifully gray and overcast!
