A week ago this past Saturday, I met up with the Phillips family after many weeks, or might you say, months of planning their family session. When Erin, mom, contacted me about their family session, I knew it was going to be one unique session. I knew their “story” might you say…I knew their life changing story….better yet I knew their tragic story from almost a year ago, where they lost their 3 year old Ayden. That day that started out so normal…little did they know would be the day that changed their lives. Although they know it didn’t take God by surprise, it’s still been hard, rough, emotional and humanly speaking “why?”. The question we all ask in our lives when we have circumstances we don’t get…”Why God?”. Yet it’s in HIS plan. Over this past year they started Ayden’s Hope Foundation where they are reaching out to other families across the country who are hurting due to the loss of a child.
As we began to plan…they wanted to incorporate Ayden in each of their family pictures. I was super excited to let my creative juices flow…Ayden’s favorite color was orange- hence lots of orange….So as you look at these family pictures, they really have a lot of meaning behind each…the ladder “A”, the metal “A”, the orange balloons, the orange each of them are wearing, his picture, the “HOPE” sign and of course talking about him the whole session as well. He will always be a part of this family and I was super happy to work with them. I could only understand
a little of their pain, knowing what my sister and brother in law went through about 10 months ago with the loss of Isabella…I truly feel like that helped me relate even a tad bit more to the Phillips family…knowing how hard this session was…it was their first family session since the loss of Ayden…yet Mom and Dad knew they had to do this for the other two kiddos! To get more of a glimpse into this family…hop over to Erin’s blog…a fellow photographer…but a mom with a heavy heart.
